Great minds think alike.

For the website presentation I wanted to use wefeelfine.org, but it seems as though someone else in the class had the same idea, so its back to searching for me.

The issue with intent is that it is never possible to know what another person was thinking. But I guess that is why we need to delve deeper and form out own opinions and then try to convince others.

What about blogs?

In the original sites list provided there are numerous blogs. But what is the inent of a blog? Is it art? or is it to let the world know what you think. I think it is the latter in most cases. For example we make money not art is devoted to talking about art. Still this could be considered art as commentary on the subject is the concept behind many works.
The majority of blogs about art are simply an analysis of work, a list of new shows, and reviews. Thus, in my opinion, these are not art.

what is art?

What is art? This seems to be the question asked during the first web art and design lesson. Unfortunately it is a particularly difficult one to answer. To add the extra constraints of 'on the web' narrows the answer field even further.
Gianni pointed out that what needs to be focussed on when deciding whether or not a particular site is art is its intent. If it was built to be a promotional or marketing site then often its intent is not art, but selling, and its treatment is merely lovely design.
An artist or gallery displaying its artwork online is also promotion. The intent of the original is art, but its reproduction deletes this previous ideal.
Unfortunately the internet is a marketing domain, therefore works of art online are few whilst beautifully designed marketing sites abound.
