wk 5 already

It is already week 5 and I feel like we have done nothing in this class. Ok, we have explored what web art is, but in the last class it seemed as though we were just talking about art.
I am supposed to be thinking about a concept for the final project, but we have had no guidance regarding it. I guess I'm lucky in that I have some experience with web based projects, but in this I feel I am unlucky because I have high expectations of myself and want to create something I am happy with.

I guess the difference between art and design is that design generally has a client, and a boundary set, whereas all of that is self imposed with art.

  • I am sorry you feel this but the point is that this class is about not only the production of the project but about the idea of art online - not only that but the all those issues to do relating to contemporary art practice - this is at the heart of any digital art form. The other element of course is the production of the work. I cannot do this for you. I cannot prescribe what you must do - particularly when a good percentage of the students are already skilled in a number of software areas - incontrast to a smaller group who are just really learning. I will, contrary to what is normally done in the Tin Sheds Art workshop courses specify with a detailed marking sheet as requested. I also want to say that a number of students have come up to me after the class to state they do not need guidelines because it is an art project.
I also would appreciate it if you let me know any ares you feel you would like covering more.
To let you know I generally get into more production exercises in the second half of the course.
